With over forty experienced and dedicated shipwrights, two large shipsaws, one with state-of-the-art climate control, two marine railways and well-equipped wood and metal shops, Boothbay Harbor Shipyard has the ideal setup for new building, restoration and repair. Our versatile crew has a depth of experience that ranges from building large sawn-frame working craft to restoring varnished mahogany yachts. Our services include all aspects of traditional wood construction and repair, welding, machine work, engine and mechanical work, painting, varnishing and storage.

Design Services

Boothbay Harbor Shipyard is committed to using only the best methods, materials and workmanship to build wooden vessels of enduring design and lasting beauty. We continue to specialize in traditional construction because such boats are durable, easy to maintain and allow any single piece to be removed and replaced. We have found ways to build beautiful long-lasting boats with greatly reduced requirements for care. With rot-resistant woods, careful engineering and good craftsmanship, a well-designed wooden boat can be expected to last a century or more with a minimum of annual upkeep.  Please read about our Philosophy
