Marine Railway Service

Boothbay Harbor Shipyard has two high-capacity marine railways for commercial vessels and private yachts up to 200. Work has included U.S. Navy and other government contracts to repair Coast Guard ships, passenger boats and ferries.  Conveniently located and easily approached, the railways are available for launching or hauling vessels for storage or transportation.

 The 700-ton railway accomodates vessels up to 200'.

      Historic ships such as: Ernestina,  and  Bounty

     Tall Ships such as:  Shenandoah, Gazella of Philadelphia,  Sherman Zwicker, and Victory Chimes

     Tugboats,  Service vessels,  Fishing trawlers.

 The 150-ton railway accomodates vessels up to 90'.  

     Private sailing yachts such as: Belle Aventure,  Alera

     Historic ships such as: Discovery

     Schooners such as:  Valora,  Harvey Gamage  and  J & E Riggin

   Newly renovated 6,000-sf climate controlled service bay

 The newly renovated 6,000-sf climate controlled service bay is equipped with a state-of-the-art humidification system to keep wooden hulls from drying out.  A low-dust environment is ideal for yacht-quality varnishing and painting.   A deck-level mezzanine creates efficient working conditions for staging equipment and materials.  A self-contained fire suppression system protects vessels under our care.

   Carpenter shop

The carpenter shop is adjacent to the railways and allows for quick and efficient repairs by expert joiners.

The machine shop offers fiberglass repair, welding, pipefitting and all aspects of metal fabrication.
